It started ealry on in the vkei scene. It is based off of French Revolation. It is known for their elaborate costumes and music is symphonic too.

This subgenre is known for gory visuals, glorifying mental health, substance and medical use.

On Japanese fourms in the early 2000s, people used to talk about their issues. Sadly enough, some people in the community think it's "problomatic" for glorifying taboo subjects like, self harm and substance abuse.

So, bands who became mainstream "toned down" on thier "visual." Anyways, the band SOPHIA was all soft visual no kote kei in between.

They were more y2k styled clothes, but their music is still rock.
